Alexander has 35 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, managing large projects in the United States, Russia, Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Turkey.

Along with a diverse technical and commercial background, Alexander brings an expertise of international nuclear project development and management.  From 2010 to 2017, Alexander served in a variety of leadership roles at Rosatom (a Russian Federation State Nuclear Corporation) group of companies. Among other assignments, in 2014 -2017, he was involved in development of international Small Modular Nuclear Reactors (SMR) program.

From 2011 to 2014, Alexander was CEO of Akkuyu Nuclear, JSC (the Project Company formed by Rosatom) and was responsible for development and the initial phase of implementation of a $20 Billion 4,800 MW Nuclear Power Plant project in Turkey – the first “build-own-operate” NPP project in the world.  Alexander led a team of 200 professionals in Turkey and Russia, responsible for planning, budgeting, engineering design, licensing, public outreach, government relations and site preparatory works.

Prior to joining Rosatom, Alexander has held senior positions at Russian power sector construction companies, overseeing execution of various power generation projects.  Earlier in his career, Alexander worked for 17 years for Bechtel Group in engineering, business development and project management in the US, UK, Azerbaijan and Russia.  He also performed consulting work as a power engineer for the World Bank in Washington, DC in 1995-1997.

Alexander holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical engineering from Moscow Power Engineering Institute and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Maryland.

In addition to being a NECG Affiliate, Alexander is consulting under Mercury Energy Consulting, LLC and Hatch Associates Consultants.
